All Kinds of Stuff

The ad for the new stupid copycat movie just played and it annoyed me again.

If you check your voice mail and hear your cries of death, it means you’re gonna die a painful death.

Either get the phone on the 1st or 2nd ring or erase all voice messages without listening. I don’t think I remember a more stupid movie premise in a long time.

I’m on day 19 of Atkins – hells yeah jali! I’m proud that I made it through all the holiday feasting without cheating at all.

As a little extra gift, my grandson Hassan got a McDonald’s gift card. He tells everyone that his grandma got him a McDonald’s credit card.

Emeril shakes audience members’ hands on his way to the stage and I’ve never seen him wash his hands before he starts cooking. Yuck!

I treated myself to a massage. Young cutie pie. It’s been too long – my reaction to his hands on me was entirely inappropriate – I’m going back next week.

I joined an online book review club that links me to friends and we can see what we’re all reading. It’s my favorite link right now. http://www.goodreads.com/

I have a date for New Year’s Eve and one for the following Saturday night. We’ll see…

I love you guys! Happy whatever you celebrate.

I HATE Zwinkies. A site I visit regularly has a Zwinkie pop up and I get pissed everytime I see the abnormaly annoying big-headed doll creatures. Who uses these things?

Why are the Publix (supermarket) commercials better than most TV shows and movies I’ve seen lately? The one with the doctor alone for the holidays makes me tear up every time. His family surprises him at his apartment at the end. I’ll look for it on the ‘tube later.

I don’t want attitude if you approach me for a donation and I don’t have it to give. How many groups am I supposed to support? I give when I can and because I’m unable to donate my money to your niece’s junior cheerleading squad doesn’t make me a scrooge. I effin’ gave at the office!!! And the supermarket… and at my apartment complex… and at the train station… and the…

Macy*s holiday tree at Lenox Square is the sparsest, Charlie Brown Christmas looking tree I’ve seen in a long time. At night it’s okay since the lights make it seem full, but during the day, it’s pitiful. (I work across the street and it annoys me that the store didn’t do better)

My grandson cracked me up! He told me it didn’t matter what I got him for Christmas, but added in a whisper before he hung up that a bike might be nice. I guess his mom told him to say “anything, Grandma” but he couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

I’ve been searching for “Bumblebee” from the Transformers for the 6 year ofd. He let me know that it’s out there since he saw it on TV so I better get my shop on.

Poetry nights (Wed. at The Green Apple in Atlanta) makes my week. The crowd there is so full of love and support and I’m honored to be a poet in that group. There are so many talented  people here in the metro area - I’m moved to tears almost every week. I got home after 4 am and suffered the next day, but it was worth it. Seria Mills (my girl) is the host and I’ve met amazing artists. (Name dropping section: Ken J., Rahaset, NfaRed, Queen Sheeba, Eliyah) I’ll drop more names next week – when I can remember them.

Beauty and the Geek ended with my favorite couple taking the prize!  Yay!

I’m going to watch the last couple of episodes of Kid Nation on “On Demand” and I’ll come back with a report. Yup – another reality show I admit to watching.

Today to celebrate the season, I’m going to wash my dirty clothes. Yay! Later I’ll party some more and go grocery shopping.

Last bit: Today is day 6 of Atkins! Hells yeah jali.

President Bush spared I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby from prison, commuting the former White House aide’s 30-month prison term.

art.libby.02.gi.jpg

A 30 month sentence for perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to investigators in the probe of the leak of the name of a CIA operative. 30 months.

Houston oilman Oscar Wyatt was sentenced today to 12 months and a day in prison on a criminal charge stemming from illicit payments to Saddam Hussein’s regime under the United Nations Oil-for-Food program.  Charged with conspiracy, wire fraud and violating U.S. laws governing dealings with the Iraqi government, Wyatt — three weeks into his trial — pleaded guilty on Oct. 1 to the single conspiracy count. 12 months and a day.

A former executive with Computer Associates who pleaded guilty to securities fraud and who prosecutors said was instrumental in the prosecution of the company’s former chief executive, Sanjay Kumar, was sentenced to seven months in prison and seven months of home detention.

Keifer Sutherland – drunk driving: The star will serve 48 DAYS at the private Glendale City Jail, spending Christmas, New Year’s and his birthday on Dec. 21 inside.

The former chief of staff to former Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) was spared a prison sentence for his role in the Jack Abramoff scandal. William Heaton, 29, was sentenced to two years of probation and was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine. He admitted to accepting gifts from Abramoff, who pleaded guilty to defrauding tribal clients. Ney is serving a 30-month prison sentence. He took money from Abramoff’s tribal clients and promised to take legislative action on their behalf.

MILWAUKEE —  Two former police officers were each sentenced to more than 2 years in federal prison Thursday for their roles in a racially charged attack involving a group of white, off-duty officers.

 The victim.

Judge J.P. Stadtmueller sentenced Clausing to 28 months in prison and Schabel to 32 months. He said he granted them leniency because of their cooperation with prosecutors.

The girl clutched a small plastic lion as James B. Coles promised her on Tuesday that “I’ll love you forever.” Cumberland County President Judge Edgar B. Bayley then sentenced Coles, 60, of Upper Allen Twp., to 1 to 2 years in county prison for molesting the child.

Former Prison Break cast member Lane Garrison was sentenced yesterday to 40 months in prison, stemming from a drunk driving episode last December that resulted in the death of a teenage passenger.

So… perjury, obstruction of justice, conspiracy, wire fraud and violating U.S. laws governing dealings with the Iraqi government, drunk driving, securities fraud, the violation of civil rights, manslaughter, and child molestation are lesser crimes than the following:

A Cottonwood, Alabama man has been sentenced to 102 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of dog fighting related charges.

Circuit Court Judge Ed Jackson sentenced Johnny Ray Lewis to six years in prison for each of the 17 felony counts he was convicted of. He was found guilty of possessing dogs with the intent to train them for fighting.Johnny Ray Lewis is handcuffed by a Houston County Sheriffs deputy after

The judge said his sentence was a “mid-range” sentence.

38 pit bulls died on Lewis’ property as a result of dog fighting. Officials seized 17 of his dogs and found syringes, heavy chains and a dog fighting video.

Houston County Assistant District Attorney Butch Binford said that Lewis will most likely serve at least 34 years of his prison sentence because typically, people serve at least a third of their sentence before they are released.

Does anyone see something wrong with this picture? I like dogs – I’d NEVER abuse a dog or advocate abusing a dog, but look at the marked disparity in the length of sentences. 40 months for killing someone’s child. 102 years for killing dogs. I don’t understand.

Question Stuff

I’m a pagan. A heathen. A non believer.

I was Christian for most of my life. I went to Catholic School from 1st to 12th grade. (some of you don’t believe that Catholics are Christian but that’s another story)

I’ve attended religious services with Baptists, Presbyterians, AME’s, Jehovah Witnesses, Nondenominational Christians, Apostolic Christians and a few others I don’t even know the names of.

I say “Merry Christmas” with the best of ‘em and I’m willing to listen to a good message but I don’t understand some of the guidelines. and can’t align myself with certain political positions.

You know the story of Jesus’ birth where his mother was turned away at the inn?

By closing our borders and limiting immigration are we not doing the same thing. No more room at the inn?

Why is the innkeeper perceived as the bad guy by most Christians when many advocate building a fence to keep “them faraners” out?

What if your Jesus is one of them?
